6 The Scientific Method Scientists us the scientific method to discover new knowledge and establish principles that help us make good decisions and solve problems.

7 Health and Medical Science In 1900, the life expectance in the United States was 47 years. Current life expectancy has reached nearly 80 years.

9 Science in Action: Warm – up and Cool Down 1. The warm – up prepares you physiologically for exercise (heats body and raises heart rate). 2. The workout is the part where you work on a component of your fitness. 3. The cool – down helps you recover from your work out.

10 Three types of Warm - up 1. A general warm – up includes walking, jogging, and calisthenics. 2. A dynamic worm – up includes skipping, jumping, calisthenics, and sport – related movements. 3. A stretching warm – up involves a series of stretches after you have performed a dynamic warm – up. Stretches are held for 15 to 30 seconds.
