2 ESDGC What is ESDGC? Where is it found at present within education? Levers for change What does it look like? Developing partnerships

3 What is a sustainable and globally aware citizen? Someone who is aware of the wide world and has a sense of their own role as a world citizen They are outraged by social injustice Someone who respects and values diversity They actively participate in and contribute to the community at a range of levels from local to global They take responsibility for their actions. They have experience of the natural world including practical projects and real world issues.

4 What is ESDGC ? the links between society, economy and environment and between our own lives and those of people throughout the world; the needs and rights of both present and future generations; the relationships between power, resources and human rights; the local and global implications of everything we do and the actions that individuals and organisations can take in response to local and global issues’

5 What it is not a separate subject; a series of discrete concepts or topics; confined to the classroom; the responsibility of just one teacher in the school; about transmitting a set of answers to pupils.
