Technology in Classroom

Benefits of Classroom Technology Students acquire new skills in engaging technological use In our world today, practice in technology is essential in real world applications Technology is another tool in learning development

Technology devices I would incorporate Projection Screen – Might be obsolete to some, but is very useful Computer with internet capabilities iRespond – New learning tool in the market – Very effective in getting students to engage in activities

Computer use with aid of Projection Screen With pre-set notes I can present it to my class with ease – It saves time and right to the point Computer capabilities allows me to use motion visuals to help students understand what I’m trying to teach.

iRespond This device will revolutionize learning development. Each student gets a hand held remote controller that is capable of connecting with the instructor through text, participate in quizzes, group surveys while being anonymous. What makes this more practical than other handheld devices such as PDA’s is that it is less expensive and is built for educational use. Also you can’t do an anonymous survey with a PDA unless you develop a program. In my case, I’m not a professional computer programmer, so my best bet is with the iRespond.

These 3 tools is all I need As a future math teacher, visual and involvement are main keys in a students understanding. If I am able to incorporate my computer in class, I can upload files onto the projection screen and show how an integral works in motion for example. Like I said in the previous slide, this could help link up using verbal and visuals. With the iRespond, I could do a class survey on a particular math problem without students having to raise their hand’s on which answer they chose. This would decrease a student’s embarrassment because their answer is private. It could be fun in a way because the whole class could get an answer wrong and laugh about it because their not the only one that’s not getting a concept. In addition, it shows a student how they measure up compared to the class. In a teacher’s perspective, it helps me out to see what problems students are having trouble on. With my ideas, I think I’m able to do my practice incorporating visuals, hearing, and doing which is very important in math.

Other devices that would be nice to use but….. PDA’s would be a nice tool to have. It’s like a mini-computer that enables a person to put programs in. As you can see from the picture, a student would be able to access internet, look up references, use an advance calculator, store information, and so forth. It could also download lecture videos and a student could access it anywhere at any time desired. Draw backs 1.Everybody can’t afford it. 2.Students might not be computer literate enough to operate it. 3.If it breaks or stolen, it becomes a hefty price to replace.

Conclusion In this report, I tried to be practical in attempt to see what technology uses I can bring to a class setting.
