1 Multi-band Inter/Intra Team Radio (AN/PRC-148)
The PRC-148 can operate in either AM or FM mode over a frequency range of thirty to five hundred and twelve megahertz. It has Type one encryption and effectively replaces a number of less capable radios. This radio is being fielded to new BCTs in large numbers to help bridge the gap between where the ASIP stops and the team.

2 Task Navigate yourself though the MBITR functions.
Properly fill the 148-MBITR. Properly hand jam frequencies. Perform a proper radio check.

3 Conditions Class room environment. Risk is high.
In case of a rocket attack, go down stairs to the TOC.

4 Standards Given the proper equipment, You, the individual must successfully perform your tasks within 10 minuets.

5 Equipment Inspection Check for any visible damages, or anything that might cause damages to the equipment or personnel.

6 Controls, Connectors & Indicators
Listed here and on the next two pages are the radio controls, connectors, and indicators. The illustration following this list shows where these are located on the radio.

7 System Components The system components include the receiver transmitter unit, two lithium ion batteries, two antennas that cover the frequency ranges of thirty to ninety megahertz and ninety to five hundred and twelve megahertz, a battery holder for non rechargeable battery cells, a holster for the radio, and an accessory bag for the system components. The maritime radio is also supplied with an audio adapter cable.

9 Power up your MBITR Make sure your ON/OFF switch is on the off position before connecting the battery to the radio.

10 Description 30-512 MHz AM and FM Transceiver Embedded US Type 1 COMSEC
VHF FM/AM UHF AM (Air to Ground) UHF FM (LOS) UHF FM (Public Service). Embedded US Type 1 COMSEC Transmit Output Power: User Selectable Watts Emergency Beacons and GPS: AM Swept Tone Beacon GPS Interface to PLGR 100 Memory Programmable Channels: Like the PRC-117, the PRC 148 can operate in either AM or FM mode over a frequency range of thirty to five hundred and twelve megahertz. It has Type one encryption and effectively replaces a number of less capable radios. The P R C one forty eight comes in two versions. The maritime version can be submerged in up to sixty six feet of salt water for two hours. The urban version can be submerged in up to six feet of salt water for thirty minutes. A software upgrade is available that will allow this radio to access a S/C TACSAT narrowband or wideband dedicated net.

11 Once your radio has powered up
Once your radio has powered up. Your display screen will display the battery power, the group, channel and the mode in which the radio is currently functioning under.

12 Press GR on your Key Pad. By pressing GR on your Key Pad this will bring you to your GROUP MENU.

13 Select any group you would like to have your frequency under.
There are 10 groups in each radio. Each group consist of 16 channels There’s a total of 160 channels.

14 Comsec Fills Simultaneously press ALT and MODE on your key pad.
Using your arrow up key, circle Key Fill and press enter. Circle COMSEC and press enter. Press your PTT button (Push To Talk) to initiate your fill.

15 Hand Jamming Settings Press ALT and Mode at the same time.
Circle program and press enter. Circle Radio Config and press enter. Using your arrow keys, circle the Portion that you would like to change on the Radio Config menu. Once you have circled your selection, press enter.

16 HAND JAMMING 6. By pressing enter your selection has been highlighted.
7. Using your arrow keys you can now select your desired function. 8. When typing in the frequencies, you must press ALT and one of the arrow keys to shift from right to left.

17 HAND JAMMING Note: You must enter in your RX: Freq. first before you type in your TX: Freq.
