2 Unit Summary With the diversity of students in the classroom, there is a need to be culturally sensitive, with the use of arts and crafts; the students get the chance to experience a different culture than they usually have. The students will get to know the Japanese culture, through a hands-on activity and at the same time learn the value of recyling. Unit Summary

3 Curriculum-Framing Questions Essential Question How is the Japanese culture reflected in their art of origami? Unit Question How important is origami to the Japanese culture? Is origami useful for the pupil? What are possible materials needed to make an origami?

4 Content Question What is the Japanese art of paper folding? What are the materials needed to make an origami?

5 This Project will help my pupils develop their 21 st century skills by: Collaborating with peers making origami on their own Understand other culture through the activity and the videos Following instructions

6 This Project will help my pupils develop their 21 st century skills by: Relying on their creativity to make a presentation Making their own decision when it comes to their creative presentation

7 Gauging Student Needs Assessment Purpose of the assessment: To find out what they know about Japan or if they ever heard about the country Japan. To find out what their favorite animal/s or thing/s. To serve as a review on the basic shapes, colors and ordinal number.

8 Gauging Student Needs Assessment How I have tried to promote higher-order thinking? I will ask my pupils the importance of learning other culture and importance of recycling?

9 Gauging Student Needs Assessment How the assessment information helps me and my students plan for upcoming activities in the unit? Through the different questions that will be asked to the pupils, I would know their interest and use it to make the activities more fun and engaging to them.
