6.  June 1868- an order was given to move Georgia’s capital from Milledgeville to Atlanta  July 4 1868- the first meeting of the legislature in Atlanta took place in the Atlanta City Hall and Fulton County Courthouse

7.  Abraham Baldwin believed it was a government’s duty to help educate everyone.  First Charter for a public University in the Country.  Charter for UGA was established in 1785.  Athens, Georgia  First held classes in 1801.  Originally called Franklin College - later became the University of Georgia.
