3D Design

2 Assignment:   You will construct a hanging sculpture of transformed recycled plastics. You will use color for emphasis in translucent and/or transparent plastics connected mechanically.   STUDENT WORKS

3 Types of Plastics to use:
Soda Water Milk Juice bottles Plastic cups Tupperware/Take out containers Old plastic folders/binder dividers Packaging material AVOID P.E.T(crinkly plastics)!!

4 Preparing Plastics: CLEAN ALL RECYCLED PLASTICS YOU COLLECT! Use HOT water to remove most labels and adhesives. “Goof-off:” Use this product to remove labels and adhesives that will not come off with hot water.

5 Dying Plastics: One brand will dye the plastics successfully. “I-DYE POLY” PROVIDED IN CLASS

6 NO GLUE! Attachment Methods:
Hole punch, drill, hot knife, or something to put small hole in plastic. Appropriate device to connect plastic units – we will provide rivet guns and grommet tool in the studio – you are expected to provide your own rivets/grommets if you choose to use them. NO GLUE!
