2. I need a volunteer to select a card from the tens pile and one card from the ones pile to create a two-digit number. What can you tell me about this number? Repeat

3. What does the picture graph tell you? What results could it show? How do you know? How can you tell the number of cubes that Allison was able to pick up?

4. What does the bar graph tell you? What results could it show? How do you know? How many daisy flowers are there? How can you tell?

5. What do you think this book will be about? What do clowns wear? What do they do? What do they ride? Read story and be able to describe what happens to the clowns and what they are doing. Look for differences in their noses, hats, ties and so on.

6. In your group, brainstorm how we can sort the clowns on these pages. Decide on a way to present the information to the class such as a picture graph, bar graph or tally chart. Be sure to write a title and label the features to make your data display clear.

9. Describe different ways you sorted your hats. What is the same about the two graphs? What is different? What are some questions you could ask about the information in the graphs from the Step Up? How ill the graphs help you answer the questions?
