13. Example Paragraph The comfort level of the student has also been shown to be important to student learning. For example, girls are 58% more likely to participate in class if boys are not present (Tonk 42). Girls seem to be more comfortable expressing themselves without guys around. It is unclear, however, why this is the case. It is possible that it is related to the, “disgust many girls feel by the tendency of boys to pass gas in class” (“Academic Flatulence”). Obviously, girls are more comfortable when the class is not stinky, and perhaps are more likely to participate as a result.
