5 Curriculum answers these questions  What is the point of schooling?  What are the goals & objectives of teaching?  What do we want to teach?  Who needs to learn it?  When do they need to learn it?  What materials or resources are needed to teach it?  How do we know if they are learning it? 7  Should identify the valuable things we need to teach and test  But testing often means valuing the things that are easy to put on a test  We need to assess the things we value, even if they are hard to assess Curriculum Aligned Assessment

9 Alignment to Curricular Goals  If you want assessment to be aligned to curricular goals, the assessment must be within the curriculum Assessment event, task, item Domain of interest Assessment event, task, item Domain of interest

10 Assessment methods  Observe Behaviour  Observe Performance on Set Task(s)  Oral Question & Answer  Paper & Pencil Questions  Test, Examination  One-off – Collections; On-demand – Prepared Many methods: all strong & weak; but match the GOALS Hairdressing via essays or performance? Methods must match curriculum content
