5 Registration Process: Upcoming 9th January 28: – Meet w/ students in Math classes – Hand out/discuss curriculum guide & registration form January 28-30: – Students discuss w/ parents & teachers class selections & get form signed January 30: – 8-9am & 2-3pm: Counselors available at TMS to answer parent/student individual questions January 31: – Meet w/ counselors in Math classes to finalize and turn in registration form Curriculum Guide P.1

6 Registration Process: Upcoming 10 th -12th Day 1: – Meet w/ students in English classes – Hand out/discuss curriculum guide & registration form Days 2-3: – Students discuss w/ parents & teachers class selections & get form signed Day 3: – Counselors available in hall outside English classes to discuss individual options and questions Day 4: – Students turn in completed form Curriculum Guide P.1

April : Verification forms given to students (list of the classes selected to double-check correct) April 30: Last day to turn in verification forms if changes requested May 1-June 14: Request changes but subject to Administrator approval & $10 fee – No changes by phone/email – Must complete a schedule change form After June 14: NO SCHEDULE CHANGES Curriculum Guide P.1

8 Vals/Sals Class of 2014: – Valedictorian: Advanced Diploma Any student w/ 4.0 GPA or higher (w/o rounding) – Salutatorian: Advanced or Standard Diploma Any student w/ 3.80-3.99 GPA (w/o rounding) Class of 2015 & 2016: – Valedictorian: Advanced Diploma One student with the highest GPA – Salutatorian: Advanced Diploma One student with the 2 nd highest GPA – Honor Graduate: Advanced or Standard Diploma 4.0 GPA or higher or top 5% of class May be multiple students Curriculum Guide P.2 Class of 2017: Same as previous class except no diploma type differences.

9 Diploma Options: Class of 2014-2016 Students can earn:  Alabama High School Diploma with Advanced Academic Endorsement Advanced Academic Endorsement With Merit-2 AP courses Advanced Academic Endorsement With Honors-3 AP courses Advanced Academic Endorsement With Distinction-4 AP courses Advanced Academic w/ Career and Technical Endorsement-3 or more career tech credits  Alabama High School Diploma with no endorsement  Alabama High School Diploma with Career and Technical endorsement  Alabama High School Diploma with Credit-based Endorsement  Class of 2014 only as tied to the AHSGE Curriculum Guide P.3

10 Credit Requirements: Class of 2014 4 English 4 History 4 Math – Equivalent of Algebra I – Geometry – 2 other maths (Options on p. 4) 4 Science 1 Physical Education ½ Health ½ Fine Art 1 BTA (Business Tech App) 5 Electives =24 Credits Must pass all 5 sections of the AHSGE Similar to Standard Exceptions: – Advanced Level Math: Algebra I Geometry Algebra II w/ Trig One other math (Options p. 4) – Advance Level Science: Not to include: – Earth Science – Environmental Science – Zoology – Sports Medicine Options on p. 5 – 2 Years Same Foreign Language Standard DiplomaAdvanced Diploma Credit –Based Diploma *Similar to Standard *Exceptions: Pass 3 of the 5 sections of AHSGE: Reading, Math and 1 other section Curriculum Guide P.3

13 Diploma Change: Class of 2017 ALSDE has just last week adopted 1 diploma type: The Alabama High School Diploma SCBOE can add additional requirements but due to the time constraints this has NOT yet been decided

14 Credit Requirements: Class of 2017 4 English – English 9, 10, 11, 12 – Offer Regular, Advanced, Honors, AP(11 th, 12 th grade) 4 History – World, US His to 1877, US His From 1877, Gov/Econ – Offer Regular, Honors, AP(11 th, 12 th grade) 4 Math – Equivalent of Algebra I Algebra I or Algebra IA & Algebra IB – Geometry – Algebra II 4 Science – Biology – A Physical Science (Physical Science or Chemistry) – Any 2 Other Sciences 1 Physical Education – 1 Year PE Life or – 1 Year JROTC or – 2 Yrs of Marching Band or – 2 Yrs of Visual Ensemble ½ Health 1 Career Preparedness – New Course – Includes Career Exploration, Financial Literacy, Computer Literacy, Online Experience – BTA does NOT meet this requirement 3 Credits in Career Tech, Foreign Language, and/or Arts Education – Can take any combination to get to 3 – Encouraged to take a sequence like French 1 to French 2 or Art 1 to Art 2 – P. 7 Curriculum Guide lists all options 2.5 Electives =24 Credits to Graduate Curriculum Guide: P. 3
