WE TURN CHALLENGES INTO OPPORTUNITIES WITH SMART INTEGRATED INFRASTRUCTURE Smart Integrated Infrastructure (SII): The convergence of physical infrastructure, communications and data analytics to enable system-wide synergies and value Smart Integrated Infrastructure (SII): The convergence of physical infrastructure, communications and data analytics to enable system-wide synergies and value Enabling more efficient, reliable, cost-effective and convenient delivery of essential services 6 SMART INTEGRATED INFRASTRUCTURE 8th Oct 2015B&V

THE REALITY OF WATER INDUSTRY IN DATA ANALYTICS 8th Oct 2015 7 B&V Can I see the data? Data Aggregation Data Visualization Do I have quality data? Data Masterplan Condition Assessment Can I leverage the data? Operational Intelligence Adaptive Planning

Water is part of the large problems being addressed with smart city solutions Energy optimization Finding leaks faster Asset management – meter replacement Energy recovery Direct potable reuse SMART WATER SOLUTIONS 8th Oct 2015B&V 8

CHALLENGESOLUTION 9 COMPANY and GOAL 9 LEVERAGING ASSET360 TM FOR ENERGY OPTIMIZATION The City of Lawrence, Kansas provides water and wastewater services and wanted to optimize energy use at its Wastewater Plant Energy was monitored at plant level but operations staff didn’t have view into energy use of each asset B&V Monitoring and Diagnostics services leveraged by the PI System and ASSET360 Build standard calculations Show energy KPIs Use B&V technology experts to remotely monitor energy SCADA system has some information Lab system had WQ data Not easy to see energy with WQ

CHALLENGESOLUTION 10 COMPANY and GOAL 10 LEVERAGING ASSET360 TM FOR FINDING LEAKS FASTER Board of Public Utilities (BPU) Electric and Water Utility of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County,/Kansas City, Kansas wanted to Find Leaks Faster and Optimize Pumping Energy Large amount of data in different systems that was difficult analyze Use the PI system and ASSET360 to bring data together and perform analytics Daily water accounting Analysis for trends and anomalies Predict water use and compare against pumping plan Analysis was done manually with exporting to spreadsheets Some leaks did not surface due to natural soils

CHALLENGESOLUTION 11 COMPANY and GOAL 11 LEVERAGING ASSET360 TM FOR ASSET MANAGEMENT Florida Keys Aqueduct has a long distributed system that is aging and they need to manage a key asset – water meters Large amount of data that was difficult analyze and see patterns Use ASSET360 with GIS integration to bring data together and perform analytics Individual use analytics Heat map for low use and meter replacement Can see conservation campaigns and impacts Analysis was done manually with exporting to spreadsheets Monthly data not seen as valuable

CHALLENGESOLUTION 12 COMPANY and GOAL 12 LEVERAGING ASSET360 TM FOR ENERGY RECOVERY Anglian Water is a large private utility serving the UK that that had a large fleet of combined heat and power (CHP) for energy recovery Many different CHP systems that are run on limited metrics and had low utilization Use ASSET360 bring data together and perform analytics See real-time efficiency Track financial metrics Manage fleet operations not just facility Analysis was done manually writing values from SCADA in a spreadsheet Don’t see the items that impact utilization

DIRECT POTABLE REUSE INTEGRATING MANAGEMENT OF SENSOR DATA FOR A REAL TIME DECISION MAKING AND RESPONSE SYSTEM 13

Membranes play an important role in treating for water reuse Is the water safe to deliver? When should I act? There is a wide variety of potential contaminants Pathogens Trace organics Compounds of emerging concern Unknown Can we monitor for these contaminants? Some real-time Most require off-line analytical analysis Takes time WHAT IS THE ISSUE? 8th Oct 2015B&V 14

There are real-time water quality analyzers that we can use to verify performance Direct measurement Surrogate analysis Role of QA/QC in monitoring Can we take a “wide” view of data and verify performance from different types of data Real-time WQ sensors Off-line WQ analysis Operational data Maintenance data WHAT IS THE CONCEPT TO PROVE? 8th Oct 2015 15 B&V

Focus on “wide” definition of sensor and data WATER QUALITY EVENT DETECTION 8th Oct 2015 16 B&V WQ Sensors Operational Performance Data Off-line WQ Data Event Data Maintenance Data Decision Support Tool Detector

Overall could be “weighted” total risk DETECTOR ROLE-UP DASHBOARD CONCEPT 8th Oct 2015 17 B&V
