2 Goals for today  Try to answer the question, “Why visualize data?”.  Learn where to find our data.  Create useful spreadsheets.  Create pivot tables to reveal the truths in our data.  Create graphs and charts to visualize data.  Create motion charts to enhance visualization

5 Where can we find our data?  Pearson: SOL Scores  PowerSchool: Academic, Discipline, Attendance, Enrollment, Scheduling, and other data  Other data sources

9  Spreadsheet has 156 columns  Reduce to just those columns you need: Student Name, Teacher Name, Test Name, Score, Race, Ethnicity, Disability, Gender, Grade  Work in Excel or move to Google Spreadsheets

19  Create your own motion chart.  Invent your own data, or pick a student from the EVERYTHING SY1314 Q4 - Sandbox.xlsx file and track their attendance, math avg. and english avg.
