3. Mariah was born on March 27, 1970 in Huntington, Long Island, New York.

4. Parents- Alfred Roy Carey and Patricia Carey Siblings- Allison and Morgan Carey ( Both Older) Alfred and Patricia were only married three years into Mariah’s Life. Her father was an aeronautical engineer and her mother was an opera singer and a voice coach.

5. Successful At A Very Young Age She started out her singing career at a very young age, by age two Mariah had surprised her mother by imitating her mother’s singing, by age four she started taking voice lessons.

6. THE BEGINING Mariah Carey went to Harborfields High School in Greenlawn, New York where she graduated from in 1987. After finishing her high school years she decided to move to Manhattan, New York to purse her music career. When she got there she was working as a waitress, studied cosmetology, and was a coat check girl.

7. First Step to Success Mariah Carey brought along one of her own demo tapes to a party and gave it to Tommy Mottalo, who was the president of Columbia records. Right after Mottalo heard Mariah’s demo tape, he called her, signed her, and got her working on her very first album immediately.

This song was released on May 15, 1990 and written with Ben Margulies The lyrics to this song describes the past and present love she has for a man. The tempo to this song is a slow dance theme and Mariah does all the background singing for the song.

15. Vision of Love Success In February 1991, this song was nominated for three Grammy Awards. After finishing the album they started working on a music video. The music video did not come anywhere close to the quality of the song so they had to redo it. The song was a huge successful and brought Mariah to the charts for the first time, great way to start a career.

17. Fantasy Background Mariah Carey wrote the lyrics to the song Fantasy, and had some help writing it with Sean Combs and Dave Hall. The song lyrics talk about a girl who loves this man and every time she thinks about him she fantasizes about being with him. Wu Tang Clan and O.D.B also were on this song with Mariah, it helped widen the range of audience for her. This song was recorded on December 1994 and was released on September 12, 1995

18. Fantasy Success Fantasy was a very successful song and was Carey’s 9 th number one top hit. Fantasy was the biggest success on her fifth album Daydream. This song is a very up-tempo pop and dance pop song, and Mariah’s voice ranges from a G to the high note of an E. This song gave Mariah the chance to direct the music video entirely on her own, she was not happy with previous videos so she took matters into her own hand.

20. Background of the song Hero Hero was originally written for Gwen Estefan by Mariah Carey and Walter Afanasieff. While writing it Carey did not feel it was the right song for her, because the style and tempo were not her style. After finishing the song, she switched it up to her more pop/R&B style and she knew it was for her. Hero is from the album, Music Box and is one of its number one hits.

21. PERSONAL NOTE ON HERO Hero became a very popular song with Mariah’s fans, since most everyone requested it, she would and still always sings it live in her concerts. I was able to see Mariah in concert in 2010, and I heard this song in person. It was such a moving and touching song that I can still feel the emotional of hope it made me feel.
