2. What Was The Events role in WWII June 6, 1944, 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircrafts supported the D-Day invasion, and by day’s end on June 6, the Allies gained a foot- hold in Normandy. 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded 100,000 Soldiers began the march across Europe to defeat Hitler. Code word designating June 6, 1944, the day for the invasion of the Cotentin Peninsula in Nazi-occupied Normandy by Allied forces during the Second World War.

3. How did The Event Impact WW2 At sunset on June 6, 1944, the European Theater of Operations at last included the Continent. The Allies were to strongly entrenched to be driven off the beaches. It led to the surrender of Germany in 1945 » This is a copy of the unconditional surrender.

4. How Has The Event been Portrayed by History? Has it been Positive or Negative? D-Day has been passed down as one of the greatest days during world War II. Though the allied forces lost many men and had a large number of casualties they believe it to be the start of a campaign that would lead to eventual Allied victory in Europe in May 1945. It has to be one of the most positive days relating to the take over of Germany.

5. Has the Event’s portrayal by history been fair and accurate, explain? For the most part I think that the men in history have told the story of this day over and over and they tell the story great. All of the sources I have looked at have had the same information and tell the same story. The maps match the things said that have been told.
