3 Objectives of the projects To enhance teachers’ understanding of the role of language in learning To arouse teachers’ awareness of the necessity of teaching their subject language To support teachers with theoretical underpinnings and effective pedagogies

4 Course details Time Total commitment by teachers Between Workshop Activities Language and Literacy School decides although one workshop per week is the suggested schedule 54 hours 3 hours per module for a total of 27 hours 9 workshops @ 3 hours per module for a total of 27 hours Teaching ESL Students in Mainstream Classrooms School decides although one workshop per week is the suggested schedule 50 hours 2-3 hours per module for a total of 25 hours 9 workshops @ 2-3 hours per module for a total of 25 hours Workshops 5-day intensive tutor-training course

5 Support provided by the Project Team Pre-course visit Workshop visits Sharing session for tutors Co-planning Dissemination of good practices of workshops Submission of action plan Sharing session of good practices in the classroom

6 Who should take the 2 tutor-training courses? EMI Any teacher using EMI, whether in EMI or CMI schools

7 Course details Time Total commitment by teachers Between Workshop Activities One workshop a week, after school hours, eg 5.00 pm - 7.30 pm 27 hours 2 hours per module for a total of 12 hours 6 workshops @ 2.5 hours per module for a total of 15 hours Workshops Language Courses for Specific Subjects

8 Who should take the teacher development courses? EMI Mathematics, science and humanities teachers using EMI, whether in EMI or CMI schools
