3 Mission Statement The member districts and the CAIU will increase and extend learner options by leveraging our wide area network and collaborating to develop and implement digital content, thereby effectively utilizing the latest technologies and research-based instructional strategies to create a 21 st century learning environment.

4 Project Goals Create a two-year, blended learning pilot project that will:  Increase student engagement and achievement  Aggregate and share resources and expertise  Achieve cost savings for districts  Create a 21 st century learning environment --- improve individual access; improve online learning skills; improve Web 2.0 teaching skills  Create conditions for future digital initiatives

5 Project Timeline AY 10-11  Secure E-Fund (PA Act 183) grant to fund project startup  Acquire digital resource provider(s) through competitive process  Provide professional development and oversee development and sharing of resources AY 11-12  Pilot high school Math (Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II) and Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science) in a blended learning environment  Facilitate professional learning communities to share resources, methods, and strategies  Evaluate pilot objectives  Develop expansion and replication plans

6 Today’s Objective Review/evaluate Quality and Flexibility aspects of provider resources Two providers: Aventa and CK-12 Materials: Quality and Flexibility Rubric Provider Proposals Standards/Eligible Content Non-disclosure of Vendor’s Proprietary Information

7 Today’s Process  Review the evaluation sheet, the proposal, and then access the textbook/resources via internet  Academic Standards/Eligible Content available in hardcopy or online  Each person scores both pages for each provider  Indicate the score in far right column and then compute the total score at the bottom of each page  Note: under Intellectual Property section under Flexibility Review, both providers score a “3” for Permission to use Copyright and for Rights for Aggregation/Disaggregation
