1 THINGS TO DO AS A VOLLEYBALL RECRUIT VOLLEYBALL RECRUITING TIMELINE

2 FRESHMAN YEAR 1.Research 2-3 schools per week 2.Create a list of 100 prospective schools consider both athletics and academics 3.Film highlight tape 4.Send introduction letters to coaches 5.Go on unofficial visits to colleges 6.Build relationships by making phone calls, send letters and emails 7.Attend summer camps with the goals of honing your skills and to gain exposure

3 GENERAL INFORMATION When making phone calls you will be nervous at first and the coaches know you will be nervous. Write down questions and take notes on your conversations. When researching schools do your homework. Check out their academics, the location, and the distance from home. Gather information: Head coaches name, email address and phone number. Information about the program and the school. Use this information when you send your introductory email to the head coach so you can make each email personal.

4 FRESHMAN YEAR Coaches are watching your development throughout your high school and club seasons Be proactive…it’s never to early for YOU to send an email or make a phone call to coaches Dl and Dll coaches cannot personally contact you until Junior year, but YOU can contact them (DI Sept. 1 st of your Junior Year; DII June 15 th before your Junior Year) Dlll and NAIA coaches can contact you anytime

5 SOPHOMORE YEAR 1.Film your highlight video 2.Narrow your list of schools and continue to research prospective schools 3.Continue to build relationships by making calls and sending emails 4.Fill out questionnaires 5.Make unofficial visits

6 SOPHOMORE YEAR September 1 st of your Junior year marks the first day Dl coaches can send you personalized letters and emails; and call you June 15 th before your Junior year marks the first day DlI coaches can send you personalized letters and emails; and call you

7 JUNIOR YEAR 1.Film your highlights video 2.Follow-up with coaches you’ve contacted in a TIMELY manner 3.Continue to call and email coaches 4.Ask coaches where you stand on their recruits list 5.Fill out questionnaires 6.Respond to EVERY coach 7.Make unofficial visits to school 8.Narrow down your prospective schools list

8 JUNIOR YEAR Dl and Dll programs will make offers to top recruits during their Junior year Dlll, NAIA and 2 Year Colleges do most of their recruiting during your Senior year

9 SENIOR YEAR 1.Make official visits- only allowed 5 2.Follow-up with coaches and respond in a TIMELY manner 3.Apply to the schools 4.Apply for financial aid- FAFSA.ed.gov 5.Sign–up with the NCAA Eligibility Center 6.Sign and commit to a school and program 7.Find out the summer workout program 8.Get ready for an experience of a lifetime
