Lunch Bytes! Quick and simple nuggets to feed your appetite for knowledge. Always 15 minutes or less. Essential information FAST. A fun-filled way to cap off your lunch hour!

Understand the role/capabilities of a Library Developing Websites Using IBM Workplace Web Content Management 6

Role of WCM Libraries Logical partitions for WCM content and components that can be Syndicated, Secured, and Managed independently of one another.

WCM Library Syndication Control  We’ll cover “Syndication and Libraries” in more depth in another lunch byte.  Libraries can help you manage WHAT gets syndicated, WHEN items are syndicated, and WHERE they go in the syndication flow.

Role-based access (security)  Define the access of a user or group for a library to determine –Who has access to a library –Who has access to the different /items in the authoring portlet Authoring Templates, Components, Content, Presentation Templates, Sites and site areas, Taxonomy, Workflow and workflow elements

Library version management  You can restore a set of items within a library that either have the same label or were versioned at, or before, a specified date and time. RESTORE ALL BY LABEL RESTORE ALL BY DATE Labels let you “tag” the most recent versions of all items in a library. Restore the most recent version of all items in a library saved prior to the specified date and time.

WCM Library Capabilities  Exporting and Importing –This feature enables you to make a backup copy of a Web Content library, and can also be used to move data between servers. –Limitations: Draft items are not exported. Only published items can be exported and imported. Saved versions of items are not exported. Only the current version of each item is exported. Children are only exported and imported when the parent is successfully exported and imported. If an item exists on the target server with the same path, name and ID, then the item is overwritten.

Disabling a Web content library When a Web content library is no longer required, you can disable the library.  Prevents the library from being accessed from an authoring portlet.  Preventing users from updating any items stored in the library.  Items referenced from this library will still be rendered. DISABLED LIBRARY Think of it like “freezing” a library. Nobody can work on it any more, but the content can be rendered for users.

Web content library management APIs  You can perform various Web content library functions using the Web content API. –Create a library –Delete a library –Copy a library –Import a library –Export a library  Note: Drafts are not copied or exported when using the API to copy or export libraries.  See the JavaDoc API for ore info: –was_profile_root > installedApps > nodename > wcm.ear > ilwwcm.war > webinterface

burlesontech.com  WPS/WCM Subject Matter Experts –Content Authoring and Publishing –Information Architecture –Personalization –Workflow –Security –Site Development –Custom Application Development –Enterprise Integration –User Experience and Usability  Full Lifecycle Support: –Strategy –Design –Development –Implementation –Training –Support
