1 Countdown… Check In Have a writing utensil Grab your journal from the bin. Add “Scar Body Map” to your Journal TOC

2 August 14 Scar Body Map Draw a stick figure in your journal Place an X on any place that you have a scar, broken bone, or other injury. Then write caption for each with the main idea remember about how the injury occurred.

3 August 15 Scar Stories Choose ONE of your injuries from yesterday and write the story about what happened. Use IMAGERY (sensory details) and vivid language to make listeners really be able to picture what happened. – I can still smell… – The sight of…. – I remember hearing… – It tasted like…

4 Figurative Language Booklet Step by Step!

5 You need… 2 sheets of WHITE computer paper AND 1 sheet of COLORED computer paper.

6 Building the booklet. Put the colored sheet on the bottom. Stack the white computer sheets on top centered in the middle. Fold the WHOLE stack in half “hamburger style” or horizontally. Put two staples on the folded edge.

7 Cover Your cover must include: – a title… – Your name… – Class Period… – Due Date: Other than those requirements, make it look nice.

8 Table of Contents 1.Simile 2.Metaphor 3.Hyperbole 4.Imagery 5.Personification 6.Alliteration 7.Symbol 8.Onomatopoeia On the inside of the cover, you will make a table of contents and number the pages in your booklet!

9 Pages Each figurative language device gets it’s own page. For each page, you must include: – The name of the device – a definition – two example sentences – a picture that relates to your sentences. Simile Definition: A comparison using the words “like” or “as” 1. She’s as tall as a giraffe. 2. This room is as cold as an igloo. Page 1
