A BIBLIOGRAPHY MLA Style Part 1: Books and Journal Articles

What is a Bibliography ? It is also called a Reference List or a Citations List. A list of the sources you used to write your paper.

Why are elephants in this presentation ? A famous saying is that “An elephant never forgets.” Elephants are very clever animals.

A Bibliography appears at the end of a research paper. Each source (book, article, website etc) is called an “entry.” Put entries in alphabetical order. Entries are not numbered in MLA style.

What information do you need to write an entry? For a normal book entry you need : the author’s name, the title, the city, the publisher and the year. To help you remember, think A-T-C-P-Y or A Toad Can Poison You.
