2 Writing Reminders What makes a sentence a complete sentence? Or, what does a sentence need to have to be a complete sentence? How many sentences should there be in a good paragraph? What do you call the first sentence in a paragraph? What is its job?

3 Basic Set up of Writing Piece There are three basis parts to a writing piece: ________________, _________________, and _____________________ INTRODUCTION What is a introduction paragraph? CONCLUSION BODY What does the body of a paper do? What is a conclusion for?

4 Today’s Writing Piece Today you are writing a letter to a friend who was absent on the day we covered converting fractions, decimals, and percents. Your paper today WILL have those three main parts to it but it will also have two other parts that are specific only to letters. What are those two parts? GREETING CLOSING

5 Today’s Writing Piece So, what should today’s letter look like? 1: Greeting (Dear _________, ) 2: Introduction paragraph (include the points coming in the letter) 3: Body: There should be one paragraph per point (should be 6). Explain each point AND given an example of each. 4: Conclusion Paragraph (Review Points) 5: Closing (Sincerely, ________)

6 How will I be graded? 3- All parts of the letter are included and serves its intended purpose. The math content is correct and easy to understand. There is at least one example of each conversion. 2 – Most parts of the letter are included and may or may not serve its intended purpose. The math content is not fully correct and is a little confusing. There is at least one example of each conversion or a few are missing. 1 – Some parts of the letter are included but may not serve its intended purpose well. The math is not correct and is confusing. Examples may or may not be missing.
