2. Solivar is city part of Presov. It`s located in east-west of city and its name is derived from extraction of salt in the past. Extraction has begun in 1571 in shaft Leopold and building of "gápeľ" (mechanism to pump salt brine from the shaft)‏ was built in 1674. „gápeľ“ Interior of „gápeľ“

6. x Since year 1946 salt brine has been extracted from bores on east from Solivar, by Solivary a.s., but was closed in 2010 due to financial problems and all 155 employes were discharged. Plant produced 100 000 tons of salt per year.

7. Striga Frown In years 1986 and 1987 band Striga was formed in Solivar. Band was known in whole Czecho-Slovakia and in 1997 renamed to Frown. Now it`s better known in outland.

8. There were two castles named Soľnohrad. First was built in 11-th century on hill Várhegy (castlehill) location is also called „Na Hrádku“. It was demolished and now here stands reconstructed church of saint Stephen from 13 th century.

9. Second Soľnohrad – called also „Zbojnícky hrad“ (Highwayman`s castle) – was built about 1298. This castle was destroyed in 1715 by decision of diet. Purpose of this castle was to protect royal villages Soľná Baňa and Solivar. Ruins of Highwayman`s castle Castle in middle ages

10. Another atraction in Solivar is Plaza beach solivar. It`s swimming pool with capacity of 800 people, salt water, live palms and two playgrounds.
