3 Objectives 1.Describe how a Stage Five urban high school implemented a Force Field Analysis to meet AYP. 2.Define Force Field Analysis as a tool to connect the needs assessment to the campus improvement plan. 3.Describe the process and benefits of creating and implementing a Force Field Analysis to address the indicators evaluated in AYP. 4.Share templates and tips for creating a customized Force Field Analysis.

4 Purpose The Force Field Analysis is a tool to assist campuses in managing change by identifying driving and restraining forces impacting productivity toward campus accountability goals.

5 Meeting AYP W.W. Samuell High School in Dallas ISD used a Force Field Analysis to meet AYP.  Before the process was implemented in 2007, the campus missed AYP in 17 measures in all three indicators.  After the first year of implementation in 2008, the campus missed AYP in 10 measures.  Progress continued and in 2009 after two years of using the Force Field Analysis, the campus missed AYP in only 4 measures.  By 2010, the campus met AYP. Objective One

6 Force Field Analysis… is a change management tool. identifies driving and restraining forces. connects the needs assessment to the actions in the campus improvement plan. articulates connections to specific actions in the campus improvement plan.

7 Force Field Analysis The steps involved in conducting a Force Field Analysis include: (1)describe the current state of the campus; (2) identify areas of need in regard to accountability standards; (3) set measureable goals to meet current standards; (4) identify driving and restraining forces; and (5) align existing practices and design new actions targeted at specific goals.
