2. BIOGRAPHY Born on October 27, 1932 in Boston Massachusetts. Her parents were Aurelia Schober and Otto Emil Plath She had a brother Warren who was three years younger than her.

3. BIOGRAPHY In 1936 her family moved to Winthrop, Massachusetts near the Atlantic Ocean. She was fascinated by the ocean as a child. Her father was then diagnosed with lung cancer and refused to seek help. In 1940 her father died.

4. BIOGRAPHY In 1942 when Sylvia was 10 they moved away from the ocean to Wellesley, Massachusetts where her and her brother started school at Marshall Perrin Grammar School. In 1944 she went to Alicia L. Phillips Junior High School and maintained an A average and she also won several scholarships and awards. She was a national honorable mention for the national scholastics library contest.

5. BIOGRAPHY Married to Ted Hughes. Mother to Nicholas Hughes and Frieda Rebecca. On April 1, 1960 she had her daughter Frieda. In 1962 at age 30 she had her first son Nicholas Hughes. The year her son was born Sylvia found out that her husband was cheating on her with Assia Wevill and they divorced. Assia Wevill and Ted Hughes had a daughter together named Shura.

8. BIOGRAPHY In 1953 Plath attempted to kill herself by over dosing on sleeping pills because she wasn’t accepted into a writing coarse at Harvard. After her suicide attempt she was institutionalized at Maclean Hospital. While Sylvia was there she was treated with shock treatments.

9. BIOGRAPHY In 1963 Sylvia Plath killed herself by gassing herself, while her 1 year old son Nicholas and 2 year old daughter Frieda were sleeping. She sealed off the kitchen so the fumes wouldn’t reach her children then placed her head on cloth inside the oven and turned the gas on. In 1969 Assia Wevill killed hilled herself the same way, except the gas reached her daughter Shura and she also died.

10. BIOGRAPHY On March 25, 2009 Nicholas Hughes at age 47 hanged himself in his home in Alaska. He was very depressed. On October 28, 1998, at age 68 Ted Hughes died from colon cancer.
