2 Your Family A family is a group of people who belong together. There are many kinds of families. Some have a mom and a dad. Some have guardians or stepparents. Some are big and some are small.

3 Your Family Sometimes a family changes. There may be a new baby. A family member may move away. How do you feel when there are changes in your family? Talk with your family about your feelings.

4 Families Learn You learn about love from your family. You learn to get along with others. You learn how to be healthy and safe. You learn ways to have fun.

5 What are some rules in your family?
Families Learn You learn family rules, too. Rules tell how to act. A family needs rules. Rules keep the family healthy and safe. What are some rules in your family?

6 Helping Hands There are many chores, or small jobs at home. Each family member can do chores. You might make your bed. What chores do you do at home? Families cooperate, or work together. When families cooperate, they get along.

7 Respect Respect is treating others the way you want to be treated. You show respect when you treat others well. Be kind to others. Take turns. Be a good sport.

8 Respect Show respect with your words. Listen when someone talks to you. Let them stop talking before you answer. How can you show respect when you meet someone new?

9 What fun things do you do with your friends?
Make Friends A friend is someone you like very much and enjoy being with. Friends play together. Friends listen and share feelings. Friends respect and help each other. What fun things do you do with your friends?

10 Wise Friends Friends can make wise decisions together. Don’t let a friend make you do things you know are wrong. You always eat lunch with a friend, but today you see a new classmate is sitting alone. Should you ask your new classmate to join you?

11 How can you work things out?
Conflict A conflict is when people do not agree. It is okay to have conflicts, but think before you act. Use your words. Use friendly words. How can you work things out?

Conflict How can you work things out? You can talk things out. You can share your feelings. Think of ways to work things out. Then agree on a way to work things out.
