1 Directions for completing your 4 year plan for high school. FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW: Become familiar with the high school graduation requirements. Requirements are: 4 years of English, Math, Science and Social Studies each; 1 year of PE. (ROTC, band, dance or a sport can count for your PE credit); all students must take career preparedness as a freshman; all students must have one semester (.5) of health; 3 foreign language, art education, or career tech classes(these include Career academy classes such as: Project Lead the Way/engineering classes, health sciences, cyber security etc;) OR any combination of the three; Lastly, 2.5 electives for a total of 24 credits. HOWEVER, there are 7 classes in a day which allows for a total of 6.5 electives or 28 credits. Students must have 28 credits on their 4 year plan. Get familiar with the course description guide found on the HCS website. Use the search bar if needed to locate it. www.hsv-k12.org There are lots of classes to pick from for your electives. Please try to select classes that will help you prepare for what you want to do after high school. Take elective classes that will help you follow your career interests.www.hsv-k12.org Fill out the 4 year plan in pencil so if you make mistakes you can erase. When you have finished the 4 year plan worksheet, return it to your advisory/homeroom teacher.

2 How do I decide what to take? Slides 3-6 are the core subject flow charts. They will help you fill out your 4 year plan. Follow the path for regular or honors classes. Remember you have to take career preparedness as a freshman. You will also need to write down the class you want to count as your PE and the number beside it. Course numbers are also on slides 7 and 8. Pick an elective for your freshman year. Frequently requested courses and the corresponding number are listed too. The high school career academies have info on career tech classes. Look in the HCS course description guide found on the home page at www.hsv-k12.org Info on AP classes is there also www.hsv-k12.org
