2 A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact our activities have on the environment, and in particular climate change. It relates to the amount of greenhouse gases produced in our day- to-day lives through burning fossil fuels for transportation, electricity, heating, ect.

3 Most electronics have a standby mode that uses energy even when not in use. Unplug cell phone chargers, laptops, stereos, televisions, ect. Try using a power strip for all these items so you just have to flick a switch, and its all off.

4 For office use; Bring in a glass or mug and stop using disposable cups. Power down everything before leaving. Try and carpool if possible, or take public transportation if its available. Consider saving files on a flash drive instead of printing everything. Only use the appropriate amount of lighting. Bring a lunch or walk to get lunch instead of driving to go get lunch. Shut off lights in unused rooms, or get your building to install occupancy sensors.

5 Reduce- Avoid using excessive packaging. You will have to throw it away at your home garbage and then it will just take up more space at land fills. Reuse- Try and re-use products as many times as possible. Often people will only use a product once even though it could be used many more times Recycle- uses less energy and produces less solution rather than making things from scratch.
