Carbon Footprint By: Kenny Heintz

What is a Carbon Footprint?
Carbon Footprint can be defined as the amount of carbon dioxide and other carbon compounds emitted due to the consumption of fossil fuels by a particular person, group, etc.

If we don’t reduce it… If we don’t reduce our carbon footprint, we will see even bigger changes in our environment. We already have rising temperatures in the polar ice caps, and the more they melt, the higher our sea levels become, causing more floods and natural disasters.

How we can reduce it Reducing our carbon foot print isn’t as hard as we think. If more people car pooled or rode bikes instead of driving their own car, that would drastically reduce our negative impact on the environment. We could also use fans instead of air conditioners, and shut off lights and computers and other electronics when not in use.

What have I done? In order to reduce my own carbon footprint, I have started car pooling to work and school, shutting off lights when I leave the room, and started keeping the heat lower in my house.
