2 Intro  Research question: Do men and women value appearance over comfort?  Comfort:  Examples can include being dressed in tee shirts, running shorts, leggings, etc.  Appearance:  Caring about appearance means actually putting yourself together in the morning. Examples can include dresses, nice jeans, cute tops, etc.

3 Purpose of Study  The purpose of our study is to see what is more important to college students: appearance or comfort?  This topic is important because different college students seem to dress all different ways so we wanted to see what the consensus was for why people dress the way they do: comfortable or stylish?

4 Literature Review  Excerpt from an article: › “"It's SO cold." "Put on your sweatshirt!" It's like she didn't even know she was carrying one. "This sweatshirt?" "Yeah!" "No way, it's ugly." "But you're freezing." She may have considered it for a second, but probably not. Instead, she decided to teach me a lesson I should've already known. "Fashion over comfort." Even in extreme conditions, women will always make this choice. How else do you explain high heels? They cut your ankles, give you bunions, and turn the simple joy of walking into a painful and difficult exercise. It's a good thing porcupine scarves aren't fashionable. (Wait, are they?)”  http://www.footballvsgirlfriend.com/2011/05/fashion-over-comfort.html http://www.footballvsgirlfriend.com/2011/05/fashion-over-comfort.html

8 Research Method (Continued)  c. Describe detailed procedure (be very specific)  c. Describe detailed procedure (be very specific)  We came up with a survey to determine whether men and women prefer comfort or style by asking a series of questions relating to the topic. We passed out the surveys to students on and around campus. We then analyzed the feedback from the surveys and formed our conclusion.

9 Results/ Conclusion 13 15  Women: 13 out of 15 girls prefer fashion over comfort 9 15  Men: 9 out of 15 guys prefer comfort over fashion.

10 Conclusion  Hypothesis was correct;  Women care more  about appearance than men do, and would rather be stylish than comfortable
