3 Multiplying fractions
Steps Change any mixed fractions into improper fractions. Multiply numerators. Multiply denominators. Change improper fractions into mixed numbers. Then use the rules for multiplying integers to determine the sign of the product. *rules for multiplying integers: If a good thing happens to a good person that’s a good thing. If a good thing happens to a bad person it’s a bad thing. If a bad thing happens to a good person it’s a bad thing. If a bad thing happens to a bad person it’s a good thing.

7 Multiplying Decimals Do the decimal dance!
First hop all decimals to the right. Make sure to keep track of how many hops. Now just multiply. It may be easier on you to break apart your numbers. Now hop to the left the same number of hops you took rights. Remember the rules for multiplying integers. If a good thing happens to a good person that’s a good thing. 19 Station Work You will be divided into groups. You must complete the rotations for each station. You will have 15 minutes to complete each station. Station 1: You will create a poster to explain how to solve either multiplication of fraction or rational decimal numbers or division of fraction or decimal rational numbers. You must include an example to show how to solve. Be sure to write all group members names on the poster board. Station 2: Task cards. Students will complete task cards on multiplying and dividing fraction and decimal rational numbers. This is to be done on a loose leaf sheet of paper. Station 3: Solving real world word problems on interactive whiteboards. Students are to work out the real world word problem on their loose leaf sheet of paper. Once the group agrees students will then write their solution and show their work on the interactive white board. Station 4: Adding to the circle. The teacher will display a problem on the board. Students are to solve the problem on their loose leaf sheet of paper. The teacher will then have students explain how to solve using the adding to the circle strategy.
