2 History of Ansel Adams Ansel Adams was a visionary figure in nature photography and wilderness preservation. He is seen as an environmental folk hero and a symbol of the American West, especially of Yosemite National Park. Ansel Adams (1902-1984) was born in San Francisco four years before the great earthquake of 1906. In 1919, at age 17, he had his first contact with the Sierra Club when he took a job as custodian of the Club's LeConte Memorial Lodge, the Club headquarters in Yosemite National Park. In 1968 Adams was awarded the Conservation Service Award, the Interior Department's highest civilian honor, "in recognition of your many years of distinguished work as a photographer, artist, interpreter and conservationist, a role in which your efforts have been of profound importance in the conservation of our great natural resources."

3 Philosophy/achieve Ansel Adams was an American photographer and environmentalist whose compelling images of the American landscape were matched by his dedication to the conservation of those lands. His love began as a child on a family vacation in Yosemite National Park [1916] with a Kodak Box Brownie camera his parents had given him. using his work to promote conservation of wilderness areas. His iconic black-and-white images helped to establish photography among the fine art

5 The reason why I like this photograph is because the way the clouds look over the mountains. Also because I love taking photographs of clouds.

12 I like this photography because I like the way the sun is coming out from the clouds and the reflection on the water.

13 I like this photograph because the sunlight coming onto the mountains lighting them up and the way the clouds look

14 I like this photograph because I like how the lighting is, the sunlight is coming from the side of the photo
