2 Biography  Full Name: Ansel Eaton Adams  Born on February 20, 1902 in San Francisco CA, died on April 22, 1984 (age 82) in Montgomery CA.  Adams a type of photographer that likes sharp focused and carefully framed images.  Family migrated from New England and Ireland. Awards: Doctor of Arts, Harvard University Doctor of Arts, Yale University Conservation Service Award, Department of Interior - 1968

3 Childhood  Adams was also interested in music and he taught himself how to play piano and read notes at the age of 12.  Adams was a hyperactive child with few friends. Kicked out from many schools for bad behavior, he was educated by private tutors and members of his family from the age of 12.

4 Childhood  The great earthquake in 1906 broke his nose marking him for life.  He spent his childhood days playing outside where he gained his appreciation for nature, which is now his primary source of inspiration.

5 Start of photography career At age 17 Adams started working at Yosemite National Park as a custodian. His interest in photography while he was there.  Adams participated in the clubs (LeConte Memorial Lodge) annual outing becoming the clubs official photographer.
