1 c´mon app- Young people on their way to apprenticeship The project- c´mon app c´mon app is a project from ÖSB Consulting. c´mon app started in February 2011. The project initially started to support participants of the vocational program to find an apprenticeship on the first labour market. What is a vocational program? In Austria young people who cannot find an apprenticeship on the first labour market have the possibility to attend an apprenticeship in an institution. The program takes 3-4 years, while they attend a vocational school.

2 Employees- c´mon app 17 Case Manager 3 Employees, who act as brokers between companies and Case Manager and their participants. Their main goal is to find an apprenticeship for the participants of our project. 1 project leader and two project assistant

3 Target Group Youth (14 -20 years) Enter into the project from various agencies: Vocational program Young people who are currently in an apprenticeship on the second labour market and who are searching for an apprenticeship on the first labour market. Counseling takes place in the vocational program, approximately once a week for an hour. AMS-Austrian labour market agency Presentation Day: Once a week in our agency for youth who are sent from AMS to our agency and searching for an apprenticeship on the first labour market. Counseling is held in our agency once a week for an hour.

4 Goals Placement of youth in the first labour market. Counseling during apprenticeship in the first 3 months (qualifying period). Support individuals who are currently placed in a vocational program to find an apprenticeship in the first labour market.

5 Case Management/Definition and Approach Case Management is a collaborative process of assessment, planning, facilitation and advocacy for options and services to meet individual needs through communication and available resources. In our project a Case Manager is considered as a type of social worker or vocational adviser who helps young people to achieve their occupational goals and develop soft skills which are essential for an apprenticeship in the first labour market.

7 c´mon app/ Case Management Process Phase 1: Screening: Initial Assessment Creating a help plan, develop with individual long term and short term goals, analysing the individual wishes and needs. Is individual ready for the first labour market (jobready?). Teach young people relevant soft skills, such as conflict and time management, and responsibility. (3-5 counseling units)

8 c´monapp/ Case Management Process Phase 2: Case Management Searching for an apprenticeship. Application training, practice for interviews, Searching for an internship, to help individual find their adequate profession, vocational counseling. This phase takes an average of 6 months. Phase 3: Counseling during apprenticeship in the first 3 months (qualifying period)

9 Experience and Results from c´mon app (01/2011-03/2013) 76% of our youth sent from the AMS found an apprenticeship in the first labour market 33% of our youth in a vocational program found an apprenticeship in the first labour market. 53% of our participants (in the Screening Phase) were sent back to the austrian labour market agency with a qualified recommendation for further steps. (for example german course, psychological counseling)

10 Experience and Results from c´mon app (01/2011-03/2013) 70% of our participants need 4-8 counseling units until they are prepared (jobready) for an apprenticeship on the first labour market. 4.051 Cases alltogether
