2 Focus Project co-funded by the MED European Territorial Cooperation Programme 2007-2013. Period: 01/11/2012-30/04/2015 - 30 months. 2 SMILE can define, plan, test, share and promote public policies, strategies and measures for intelligent urban freight transport solutions thus improving public and private actors’ knowledge and measures on the topic.  Development of innovative strategies, plans and measures on energy efficient city logistics solutions and their implementation in Mediterranean cities utilising all the existing technologies and building upon previous experiences as well as on-going initiatives.

4 Activities  Modeling, measuring and assessing urban freight logistics status, needs, performances through the adaptation and improvement of currently available models (qualitative and quantitative), like CityGoods (E-R) and FRETURB (Lyon). 4  Development of a set of criteria and performance indicators, measurable by local and regional authorities, to assist them in selecting, implementing and monitoring innovative renewable energy and energy efficient solutions in city logistics.  Defining and assessing transferable policies, strategies, plans and measures regarding innovative and energy-efficient urban transport solutions.

5 Activities  Real testing of smart city urban logistics solutions through the development of pilot demonstration activities involving public and private actors and dealing with the implementation of electric mobility, ICT, transport operations with a focus on waste, green labeling of businesses. 5  Specific governance work as basis for consensus building on the developed policies through public consultations with stakeholders promoting a strong involvement, engagement and public-private cooperation.
