3 RELEVANCE Career academies connect rigorous, college preparatory academic courses with Industry Recognized Credentials in high demand career pathways. ENGAGING & MOTIVATING OUR STUDENTS THROUGH THE CAREER ACADEMY MODEL MDRC Longitudinal Study on Academies improve labor market prospects of young minority men, who earned over $10,000 (18% more) than those in the non-Academy over the 4-year follow-up period. ACCESS to Information and Technology MATCHING SKILLS TO WORKFORCE NEEDS

5 Business Involvement Expectations of an Academy Business Partner Commit to work together for at least one school year. Identify a partnership coordinator who will serve as the primary contact for the school. Support the goals of the Academy in at least one activity per school year. Report the time your organization spends on the partnership

12 ISD Freshman Academy data from 2014 - 2015 Overall attendance went up from 91.5% to 92.9% Students in attendance 90% of the time increased from 72.6% to 78.3% The number of students in perfect attendance increased from 40 to 64 (60% increase) Incidents that resulted in discipline referrals dropped by 15%
