Fairy tales often begin with the words Once upon a time or Long, long ago. They usually include a good character and a bad character (evil). They can include magic or something enchanted. They frequently include a forest or castle in a fairy tale. The plot usually involves some kind of problem, the problem is eventually solved, and the good people live happily ever after.

Hänsel and Grethel trick the wicked witch who has captured them. The story tells of the plight of a young brother and sister abandoned in a forest by their wicked stepmother. The children are led by a magic bird to a little house in the forest, made of cake and candy. However, the house belongs to an evil witch who wishes to eat the children.

Goldilocks wanders far from home and stumbles upon the house of the three bears. First sitting in all of their chairs and tasting all of their porridge, then lying in all of their beds she finds the little baby bears the most suitable for her in all three cases. This classic fairy tale was made by Coronet films and stars real life bears.

Moral: Children, especially attractive, well bred young ladies, should never talk to strangers, for if they should do so, they may well provide dinner for a wolf. I say "wolf," but there are various kinds of wolves. There are also those who are charming, quiet, polite, unassuming, complacent, and sweet, who pursue young women at home and in the streets. And unfortunately, it is these gentle wolves who are the most dangerous ones of all.

The two pigs building houses of hay and sticks scoff at their brother, building the brick house. But when the wolf comes around and blows their houses down (after trickery like dressing as a foundling sheep fails), they run to their brother's house. And throughout, they sing the classic song, "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?".

Jack and his mother were very poor. They had to sell their cow. Jack sold the cow for some beans. When he took the beans home his mother was so mad that she threw them out the window. The next morning there was a giant beanstalk that had grown up to the sky. Jack climbed up the beanstalk. He found a castle.

A Prince decided he wanted a real Princess to marry. He traveled around the world but did not find a real Princess to marry. One stormy night, a girl knocked at the door of the castle. She came into the castle out of the rain and told the Queen and the Prince that she was a princess. The Queen prepared a special bed of twenty mattresses and twenty eiderdown beds. The Queen put a hard pea under all of the mattresses to test whether the girl was really a Princess. The next morning the girl woke up all black and blue from a very poor sleep. She told the Queen and the Prince that she had hardly slept at all. The Prince and the Queen knew that the girl was a real Princess. The Prince and Princess were married.

The duck's eggs hatched: but the fifth hatchling, a bit late, isn't like the rest, and momma duck chews poppa out. On top of it all, where the ducklings quack, the oddball honks. He's soon left out by all the ducks. He also explores a nest of sparrows and a duck decoy, but there's no acceptance there, either. But just when he's feeling worst, a family of swans comes by, and he's got a new family.
