1 Keys to a Successful OHDELA Experience

2 File Folder for your Work Create a file folder for each specific class Within each class’s file folder, create additional folders for each unit.

3 Creating a File Folder Click on “Start” and then click on “My Documents”

4 Creating a File Folder Click on “Make a new folder”

5 Creating a File Folder As soon as you have clicked “Make a new folder” you will have the option to name the folder.

6 Creating a Folder Once you are in the Class folder, create a folder for the Unit

7 Microsoft Word Documents Every Microsoft Word document should be labeled the same way – Your Name (last, first) – Teacher Name – Class Name – Date – Name of the Assignment

8 Microsoft Word Documents Record your answers in red font

9 Saving a Document Label each document you create. This will make it easy for you to retrieve it and it will be labeled properly in an email you send to me. To do this click “File” Then, click “Save As”

10 Saving a File Label the document the same as you did on the last line of the heading

11 Email Etiquette Each email needs to include a subject, a salutation, indication of the class you’re in, description of the purpose of the email, and a polite closing.

12 Email Etiquette Once we are engaged in an email chain, or conversation with the same subject, it may be practical to reduce formality. Be sure to continue providing an adequate amount of information.

13 Email Etiquette Do your best to use proper punctuation and grammar. The email has spell check. USE IT, please. Thank you.

14 DELA Homepage Along with the path to your Dashboard and classes, here you will find important updates and information as well as links to various other important locations.

15 Dashboard This page is important! From here you will locate your classes, assignments, curriculum, email, grades, and more.

16 Classes Clicking on the Classes tab will get you here Looks Important Scroll down on this page to find your Book Bag (with textbook), Teacher Information, Study Aids and Document Tray.

18 Assignments Under the Applications tab is an important option titled, “Assignments”. Here you will find Start and Due Date, Assignments, Assignment Type, Response Type, Status, Source, and Score

19 Archives When you go into the “Classes” tab there is an option titled “Live Learning” Here you can find another link to the Live Class as well as Archives of previous classes

20 Archives After viewing an Archive you need to email me a brief summary of the lesson so you can gain attendance for that day.

21 Just a Reminder Dashboard Highlights – Classes – Applications Assignments Attendance Curriculum Email Grades And more

22 Drop Box Some Assignments have the Response Type Drop Box. The Drop Box is located at the bottom of the Assignment page.

23 Drop Box The drop box only shows up on the start date.

24 Drop Box For most of these assignments you’ll need to attach a saved Word document. You can even link a webpage. As well as do this stuff.

25 Drop Box: Adding a File After clicking on the “Attach files” button, click on the “Browse…” button and you’ll open up your Documents

26 Drop Box: Adding a Document Select the document you want to submit by double clicking it or selecting it and clicking Open

27 Drop Box: Adding a File Once you have selected the document you want to upload click “Upload” and then “Submit”. Don’t be afraid to write a little message to your teacher prior to submitting the assignment.

29 Tech Support Please be patient with Tech Support. You are one of nearly 2,000 students. Be polite – “you catch more flies with honey than vinegar” Inform me when you have Tech issues – Email me your ticket number

30 Orientation You may still have many questions. We offer Live Orientation training sessions.

31 Video Tutorials You are likely to still have many questions. This year we have introduced Video Tutorials that detail the commonly asked questions.

32 A Good Start Online School requires the student to be able to manage him/herself. This can be a challenge. I hope this presentation helps ease some of those challenges so you can focus more on the learning.
