16 Debatable question: Should we always try to make our lives easier? We should always try to make our lives easier in any way we can. When our lives are easier, there is less stress for us. When life is easier, we have less to worry about. If we try to do things which are difficult, it would make our lives harder, and take away from the time we might need to do other things that are beneficial to us. It makes sense to me, to always take the easiest way possible! I have read that stress can be unhealthy, can shorten one's life-span, and reduce one's quality of life. My uncle is an emergency room physician and experiences a tremendous amount of stress on a daily basis. He began experiencing severe headaches, high blood pressure, and he had trouble relaxing even when he was not on the job. His doctor told him if he didn't find some way of relieving stress, he would likely have to take medication for his blood pressure. Because of his stressed-out nature, he didn't have a very good relationship with his family. Living a stress-free life is very important to me and I want to make sure I limit stress in my life as much as possible. "Don't Worry, Be Happy," is the theme song to my life and another reason why I always do whatever is easiest for me! For example, in a recent PE class, I was recently given some options for activities I could choose from to meet the class objectives that day. My choices were to run a mile, walk a mile, or walk half a mile. Of course, I chose to walk half a mile because that would be the easiest activity! I quickly walked my half mile and then I was free to sit out the remainder of class and do what I wanted to. It was great to sit and relax, worry-free, instead of pushing myself to do twice as much and worry about getting hot, sweaty, and tired. Recently, I took on the challenging task of learning to play the clarinet. It was very difficult to learn the notes and get the proper sound from the instrument. My band teacher wanted me to practice several hours a day and it was very unpleasant and time-consuming. It took away from the time I would rather be spending playing Electric Man or watching T.V. So I gave up the clarinet and switched to the kazoo. It was much easier and required very little practice, leaving me plenty of time to pursue the things which really interest me. In closing, I am more convinced than ever that taking the easy way out is always the best decision for me. No Stress, no worries, and plenty of time for doing the things I love, has helped me to live a quality life of happiness and joy. As long as my parents let me live with them forever, I've really got it made! Don't you think?
