6 Inside The Temples at Abu Simbel The temple’s interior consisted of halls and rooms that went back 185ft. from the entrance The first hall is 54 ft. wide and 58 ft. deep “The most remarkable feature of the site is that the temple is precisely oriented so that twice every year, on 22 February and 22 October, the first rays of the morning sun shine down the entire length of the temple- cave to illuminate the back wall of the innermost shrine and the statues of the four gods seated there.” -Christopher L. C. E. Witcombe

7 Temples at Karnak This vast complex was built and enlarged over a thirteen hundred year period It is the largest temple complex ever built by man, and represents the combined achievement of many generations of ancient builders The Temple of Karnak is actually three main temples, smaller enclosed temples, and several outer temples

8 Inside The Temples At Karnak Ramses' the Great's decorations can be distinguished because they lack the artistic quality “The first pylon is a construction platform built of brick caissons enclosing packed earth between retaining walls perpendicular to the pylon, which is evidence that the first pylon was still under construction when the work was abandoned” - Jim Fox
