2 Who is Michelangelo?  Born on March 6, 1475  Caprese, Italy  Second of five sons.  Died on February 18, 1564 (Age 88)  Rome, Italy  Family in the banking business  Father- Leonardo di Buonarrota  Mother- Francesca Neri  Unable to care for Michelangelo; A stonecutter family cared for him.  Taught by Domenico Ghirlandaio (a popular artist in Florence)  Skill of fresco painting  At 16 he attended a special school for the study of sculpture founded by Lorenzo de Medici.
