2 Do Now THINK-PAIR-SHARE What does “peace” mean? What does peace look like in your home, in your school, in your city, and across the world?

3 Norms Be present and engaged. Be respectful of differences in perspective while challenging each other productively and respectively. Monitor “air time.” Make the most of the time we have. Stay focused on students.

4 Objectives Know- Teachers will know that arts education should promote interdisciplinary study; and integration among and across the arts and other disciplines Understand- Teachers should understand that CLIP strategies are to support, not to supplant, effective arts instruction Be able to Do- Teachers lesson planning and implementation will reflect curricular changes and content literacy strategies.

5 How can we creatively represent the meaning of peace based on our shared ideas and concepts?

6 MODELING Hands on Activity- Painted Story Quilts View examples of quilts and lead a discussion on storytelling in art. Using the notes from the “do now” activity, sketch a story about promoting peace in the home, school, city, or world. Make final drawing on muslin fabric using watercolor, wax pastels, beads, fabric samples, etc. to add to the aesthetic quality of the final product Write a reflection on final piece

7 Reflection: MODELING What resonated with you? What is similar to your current practice? What is different than your current practice? What are you going to change as a result? How does this activity support literacy and language development?
