2 © Crown copyright 2008 Data management to support QLA The role of data management within RAISEonline to support QLA Entering the pupils into the system with common transfer files (CTF)  This should be carried out using a CTF produced from the schools own MIS Common CTF difficulties experienced by schools  Most problems begin with schools MIS data sets  Incomplete data sets  Conflicting data sets  Confused data sets Copying school cohorts using the data management functionality  Not advised as the best practice because pupil characteristics and context may change even if pupils remain the same

3 © Crown copyright 2008 QLA Templates Downloaded from RAISE Cohorts must be uploaded first using a CTF Item level responses entered into the template Enabling macros  These must be enabled to ensure correct upload of QLA data Entering item level responses into the mark templates  Type in marks as though to a spreadsheet Entering blank responses  These must be entered as N  Note that blanks will not be uploaded to the system Uploading populated QLA templates

7 © Crown copyright 2008 All marks must be entered, if there are any blanks the results will not be uploaded into RAISE Where a pupil didn’t attempt a question ‘N’ must be entered

19 We can now use the QLA wizard to navigate to Question level reports and graphs

21 © Crown copyright 2008 This graph is displayed at the top of the screen and shows the % Correct Responses for each topic for Maths test A for both School and National

22 © Crown copyright 2008 Underneath the graph this table is displayed which shows the school data and compares this with National data showing the ‘% Differences from National’

23 © Crown copyright 2008 When we choose the Pupil List report from the QLA wizard it displays the ‘% Correct responses’ for each pupil broken down by topics also showing the overall ‘% Correct Response’
