1 By the end of this lesson you should be able to identify and compare qualities we associate with leadership. To do this you will:  To consider the qualities necessary for good leadership  To identify them in people we see in the media  Compare them with the needs of the Jewish people at the time of Jesus

2  Which of them are good leaders?  Which of them are ‘bad’ leaders?  What qualities can you identify that make you think that?

5  Use your discussions to create a job advert for a ‘leader’  You decide what they will be the leader of  Write a description of the kind of person who should apply for the job.

HW – Prepare a 2 minute speech/presentation that identifies Jesus as a leader/Messiah You will need to include: What the Jews expected from their Messiah Why they didn’t think that this was Jesus Why we as Christians think that he was! This will form the assessment for this topic! It will be delivered two weeks from now.

Mark 9:33-37  Matthew 16:21-26 – Peter doesn’t understand Matthew 16:21-26  Acts 1:6 – After the Resurrection Acts 1:6  For each passage, answer these questions:  What is the misunderstanding?  How does Jesus help them to understand?  What is Jesus’ message about himself?

25  Compare and contrast ideas that people have about Jesus being the Messiah  Level 4 – State what qualities people expected the Messiah to have  Level 5 – Explain, using some evidence how Jesus could be seen as the Messiah  Level 6 – Compare the Jewish and Christian understanding of the Messiah stating how Jesus doesn’t obviously meet the Jewish expectations  Level 7 – Evaluate how even though Jesus’ Messiahship was not easily identified by the Jews, he does meet the criteria in different ways.
