4 What makes a Citizen You are born in the United States (or at least one parent is a U.S. Citizen. You were naturalized, you have completed the legal process to become a citizen. You were under 18 or younger when your parents were naturalized

Patriotism = Feeling of love and devotion toward one’s country Respect ourselves, family, neighbors and members of the community Students have a responsibility to learn Courage may be physical or moral

7 Responsibilities of Citizenship
Vote a good citizenship studies candidates and issues in order to make responsible choices Obey Laws A good citizen is responsible for knowing and obeying the laws that affect his or her life and actions. Defend the Nation Americans have the duty to help defend the nation against threats to its peace and security

Serve on Jury Jurors take time out from their work and personal lives to decide the fate of others during a trial. Serve the Community Many Americans offer their time and talents to improve their communities or to help others. Being Informed A citizen cannot protect his or her rights unless he or she knows what they are
