3 Kids and parents need carbohydrates There is simple and complex carbohydrates Simple carbohydrates Are also called simple sugars Complex carbohydrates are also called starch's Both can be part of a healthy diet

4 Fats are part of a healthy diet Fats, oils and meat like beef are fat Kids older then two should make 30% of there daily calories fat

5 Protein Many foods contain protein beef, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy products, nuts, seeds, and legumes like black beans and lentils all are a good source of calcium When you eat foods that contain protein your stomach and other organs go to work

6 Fibre is good for your body Some of the best most nutritious foods have Fibre A diet that includes fibre will help lower cholesterol in your blood count Fibre will help prevent diabetes and heart decease

7 Vitamins and minerals are substances Your body needs them to work properly Vitamin D in milk helps your bones Vitamin A in carrots helps you see at night Vitamin C in oranges helps your body heal if you get a cut B vitamins in leafy green vegetables help your body make protein and energy

8 small amounts of some minerals are in foods Red like beef is a good source of iron Just like vitamins, minerals help your body grow, develop, and stay healthy minerals are even used to make hormones or maintain a normal heartbeat

9 Without water, your body would stop working properly Your body doesn't get water only from drinking water, any fluid you drink will contain water Fruit contains lots of water
