Row 1, Col 1 What are the three states of matter? Solid, liquid, and gas.

1,2 What is evaporation? When water changes from a liquid to a gas called water vapor.

1,3 What is the movement of water which happens over and over again? The water cycle.

1,4 Put salt on the sidewalks. How do you increase the freezing temperature of water on sidewalks?

2,1 This state of matter has a shape of its own. A solid.

2,2 What is condensation? Water vapor cooled to form liquid water.

2,3 What do you call a cloud near the ground? Fog.

2,4 When water evaporated in our experiment, where did it go? In the air.

3,1 This state of matter does not keep its shape but takes up the same amount of space. Liquid.

3,2 What is ground water? Water that seeps into the ground.

3,3 Which tool is used to measure temperature? Thermometer.

3,4 How can you speed up evaporation? Increase temperature (put in sun) or put the liquid in a wider container.

4,1 This state of matter does not keep its shape and does not take up the same amount of space all the time. Gas.

4,2 What form of precipitation is solid? Hail or snow.

4,3 What is collection? When water falls back to the earth as precipitation and collects in oceans, lakes, rivers, and on land.

4,4 Why does your soda can get wet on a warm day? The water vapor condenses because the can is cool.

5,1 This is needed to change from a liquid to a gas. Heat.

5,2 What do you need for condensation to occur? Cooler temperature.

5,3 What do you call water in the air? Water vapor.

5,4 What happens when the ground can’t hold any more water and it rains? What doesn’t go into bodies of water floods the land.
