4 Read page 354-355. Why do you think Stevenson ants to travel? From reading Stevenson’s excerpt, where do you think the place he wants to visit are located? Why do you think people in the modern world find cultures of long ago fascinating? How and why do we learn about ancient cultures?

5 Read page 356-358. What is a caravan? Why did people travel in caravans? Patricia and Fredrick rode camels on their journey. What method of transportation would you use if you went on a journey? If you could choose a place to take a journey to, where would it be? Why?

6 Assignment Read page 356-358. Brainstorm ideas, images and words you would associate with ancient cultures. Make a list of words. Preview the selections in the theme.
