2 Positive attitude towards their learning. Taking responsibility for their learning. To be able to work independently and collaboratively. Working to best of their ability and taking care of their presentation, spelling and punctuation. Homework to be completed on time and handed in. Respectful to others.

3 Year 9 Curriculum – pre GCSE work Term 1 – Activate 3 Biology – Detection (Forensic science) Physics – Turning points in physics Chemistry - Nanoscience Designed to bridge the gap between KS3 and GCSE Skills and knowledge based Topics which relate science to the real world Help students to decide whether triple science is an option for them. Assessments to judge ‘suitability’ for Triple

4 Year 9 Curriculum Term 2 – Introduction to GCSE Biology - Cells, tissues and organs Respiration Physics - waves Chemistry - Fundamental ideas, structure and bonding and rocks Term 3 – New specification (trilogy) to be taught to students

5 Examined in June 2018 Route 1: GCSE Combined Science (Trilogy) Route 2: GCSE Triple Science (an Option)

6 New GCSE for examination 2018 Double award- 2 GCSEs Examinations Six longer exams (1 hour 15 mins) 17% Multiple choice, closed and open short answer questions, emphasis on knowledge and application No coursework or controlled assessment Exam questions will draw on the knowledge and understanding students have gained by carrying out the 16 required practical activities. Mathematical requirements No ‘equation sheets’ students should be able to recall and/or apply’ a number of equations

7 New GCSE for examination 2018 Triple award 3 GCSEs Examinations 2 exams for each subject (1 hour 45 mins) 50% each Multiple choice, closed and open short answer questions, emphasis on knowledge and application No coursework or controlled assessment Exam questions will draw on the knowledge and understanding students have gained by carrying out the 24 (8 in each subject) required practical activities. Mathematical requirements No ‘equation sheets’ students should be able to recall and/or apply’ a number of equations
