8 Course Familiarisations Friday – 06:30am Assemble at Torrens Parade Ground at 06:20am You will be briefed by LOC and Police who will control the familiarisation ride There will be ONE lap only of the bike course at controlled speeds. Be prepared to stop if requested by Police. Under no circumstances should you pass the lead vehicle A run course familiarisation will follow. Because the roads are open to traffic, this will be on the footpaths rather than on the road where you will be running on Saturday.

10 Check-in procedures Athletes Lounge Uniform check (name, country, logos, ITU logo, zippers) – photos taken of each uniform. Wearing other uniform during the race = DSQ! Body marking check (both arms, both legs) Timing chip distribution (1 for the ankle)

11 Check-in procedures Transition Area Bike check: handlebars, wheels (non authorized UCI wheels rule) and seat position check Helmet check- Don’t leave your helmet fastened in the transition Athletes who don’t comply with this rule will receive a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1. Running Shoes outside the box, helmet on the bike Spare wheels to the wheel-stop To add any equipment to the bike, you must obtain approval from the Race Referee up until 10 minutes after the end of the Athletes‘ Briefing.

12 Check-in procedures Warm Up The course will only be available for warm up once the preceding race is complete (i.e. for Elite/U23 women, once the junior race is complete, for Elite/U23 Men, once the Women’s race is complete) Run warm up can be done on the run course Bike warm up can be on the eastern side of King William Street only.

13 Pre-start Procedure Athlete Introduction: 10 minutes before start - line-up inside the transition area Jog to the start line Select your position and stay behind the line!

14 Start Procedure Athletes in position: The start can be given any time after the TD announces ”On your mark” Air horn blast The race starts False start: Several horn blasts Everyone goes back to her/his spot

15 The Course Run 1 4 laps of 2.5km (10km total) Bike 8 laps of 5.03km (40.24km total) Run 2 2 laps of 2.5km (5km Total)

19 Transition Area Individual Bike Racks –two rows All USED equipment including running shoes, caps etc worn during Run 1 must go in your box in T1 If you are using a second pair of shoes for Run 2 leave these in front of your box. Helmet must be in the box in T2 Bags to the Athletes Lounge Mount line at the end of the TA

22 Bike course Litter Zones on Bike Course Same zone as Run Aid Station on War Memorial Drive At the Neutral Wheel Station at Wellington Square Lapped Athletes Lapped Athlete rule will apply only within your race category U23 athlete will only be lapped out if lapped by another U23 athlete Elite athlete only lapped out if lapped by another elite athlete If lapped and able to continue (e.g. U23 lapped by an Elite) the lapped athlete must not draft off the leaders

28 Run Penalty Box The penalty box is for infringements in: TA1, bike and TA2 e.g.: Mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, discharge or store your equipment outside your designated area, rack the bike outside your own space etc (Transition will be videotaped for infringements) Location: At the southern turn of the run course on King William Road Information: White board to show race numbers (Athletes need to read the board – coaches are advised to check and inform their athletes) Procedure: 15 second time penalty served on any lap of the run If you don’t stop DSQ

29 Run Penalty Box Rule interpretation Mount after the mount line: The athlete must have one foot on the ground after the mount line. If this does not occur the athlete is considered to have mounted the bike before the mount line. Dismount before the dismount line: The athlete must place one foot on the ground before the dismount line. If this does not occur the athlete is considered to have dismounted the bike before the dismount line. Discharge or store your equipment inside your designated area: The athlete must place all used equipment in their own box (they will be numbered). In Duathlon this includes running shoes, caps etc that were used during Run 1, even if you intend to re-use the equipment in Run 2 Rack the bike inside your own space: In T1 the bike must be racked by the rear wheel facing outward. In T2 the bike can be racked by either the front or rear wheels.

30 Post-race Procedures Anti-Doping Control Photo ID is needed for every athlete to have ready for Doping Control Medical Only team medical officials area allowed in this area in case there is an athlete from their team. Every NF can have 1 team medical upgade pass, but only for team doctors!

31 Coaches areas Accreditation Every coaches has to collect accredited to be able to enter the venue. Additional sport-specific coaches areas At the southern run turn on King William Street (next to the penalty box). Bike and Run course can be viewed from here.

32 Important Updates Race Packs Contain a set of stickers for your bike/helmet Timing chips will be issued at Athlete Lounge The wrist band is your ticket to receive the pasta meal at the opening ceremony Reminder to assemble at 17:00 at the Elder Park Amphitheatre for Parade of Nations
